Author bio: Author of Find Your Future in Art, Kim Childress began her thirty-five year career in children’s publishing as a bookseller at Kids’ Ink Children’s Bookstore in Indianapolis, later becoming middle-grade editor for HarperCollins Christian Publishing (Zondervan), and she remains book editor for Girls’ Life magazine, where she has reviewed books since the magazine’s debut in 1994.Kim has written and edited over 300 books, stories, and articles for children and the adults in their lives, all while raising a personal focus group of four children. Reading Rocks in Rockford Community Event Press Release, May 31, 2017 : Get kids excited for summer reading during “Reading Rocks in Rockford,” taking place at the Kraus Memorial Library this Saturday, June 3, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. (140 E. Bridge St., Rockford, 49341). This free, family friendly, community event organized by the Rockford Rotary Club, the Rockford Public Schools and the Krause Memorial Library, features local children’s book authors and illustrators, including award-winning editor, author, reviewer, and blogger, Kim Childress, and her book Find Your Future in Art (Cherry Lake Publishing, Ann Arbor). Kim will share other titles she edited as middle grade editor for HarperCollins Christian Publishing (Zondervan), including Wacky Bible Gross Outs, Wacky Bible Blockheads and Our Constitution Rocks!, written by 14-year-old Juliette Turner, Youth Director for Constituting America. With an Author’s Showcase, Hook a Book, Rockin’ Reader Awards, a parade, Paws with a Cause, and more, Reading Rocks in Redford celebrates the value of reading. Kids activities, summer reading incentives and books galore will help wind down the school year while getting kids pumped for books.
